An Honourable Win

Golf is not just a game of skill and guts. It also needs discipline, honesty and integrity to be a respectable golfer.

Submitting inaccurate scores to win a medal or trophy is to claim a prize that is not truly theirs. Thus scoring correctly on the card, checking the scores to make sure there has not been mistakes made by the marker before submission of the scorecard, is an important integral habit to cultivate. The player who agrees with the score written by his marker countersigns on the card to acknowledge that the score is correct. No changes should be made thereafter. The rule of golf requires the Tournament Director to disqualify a player who discovers after submission that he/ she had inadvertently or otherwise submitted an erroneous score.

I urge all our Youth Golfers to be aware of the rules and etiquette of golf, count and submit correct scores to win the game honestly and honorably. Your school takes pride to send you for training, enjoy the game of golf and do well. It is the onus on the student to win with pride and integrity.
